UGA Baseball Game

On Saturday, Chief and Kikye took the boys to their first UGA baseball game. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time (despite the fact that Jackson was still running a fever). Here are some pics from the afternoon...

Cherry Blossom ends...

Our Cherry Blossom fun was held at bay this year by fevers and floods. The weather made being sick just a little bit easier...it rained so much that we couldn't have gone anywhere even if we wanted to. Just to give you an idea of how much it rained, here's a before and after picture of the creek in our backyard. It went from creek to raging river in a hurry. Thankfully everyone was feeling much better by the time the rain stopped on Sunday. We crammed as much as we possibly could into our last day of the festival. We visited the street fair on Mulberry, spent hours more at the fair at Central City Park, and went for a picnic and fireworks finale celebration at Wesleyan. We had a great time and can't wait for next year :)

Cherry Blossom fun is currently on hold as both of my boys have 103 degree fevers and strep....booooo :(
I guess it helps that it's raining and we're not missing much anyway.

The Pinkest Party On Earth!

One of my favorite things about living in Macon in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. For those of you not familiar, here's a little background...

"Each March, Macon becomes a pink cotton-spun paradise of delight as over 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees bloom in all their glory. And for 10 days, festival-lovers are treated to one of the most extravagant displays of springtime color in the nation as they visit the town referred to by Congressional Records as the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World. It has grown from a three-day festival with 30 events, to a 10-day celebration featuring hundreds of events planned to entertain all ages and backgrounds: delight in the splendor of hot-air balloons, colorful parades, historic tours, an unforgettable Sea Lion show, dazzling fireworks displays, and amusement rides for all ages. Nightly concerts feature top national and regional recording artists from every musical genre, and military bands. From stylish fashion shows and gala balls to dancing in the streets of Macon at the street party, the Cherry Blossom Festival is The Pinkest Party on Earth!"

We spend most of our time at Central City Park where there are rides, shows, food, exhibits, pink poodles, face painting, pony rides, you name it...basically it's every kid's dream and my wallet's worst nightmare. But we love it and try to spend as much time there as possible while we can. We kicked of the festival by going down on Saturday for the pink pancake breakfast. We rode rides, watched some friends perform in recitals, saw the sea lion show, and probably the highlight...the model train exhibit...you're all shocked, I know.

We headed down again today to eat lunch, ride more rides, see the sea lions and model trains again, and get a slushie....and Jackson rode his first roller coaster, which was too cute!

Jackson is in the 5th car back, riding with the kid in the red hat. He told me the roller coaster "went berry fast" and that he "liked it really good".

.....and we're headed back again tonight for pink margaritas and a buffet cover band concert! (and more rides and trains, I'm sure). Stay tuned for more Cherry Blossom fun!

Train guy

My child is obsessed with trains. I never knew someone could be so fascinated by every single aspect of one thing...TRAINS. Real ones, pretend ones, track, stations, bridges, crossing arms, conductors, couplings, cargo...it is never ending...and oh so precious. He loves to study his "train maps". "Train maps" are simply any kind of pamphlet or brochure advertising trains of any kind. And when I say study, I mean really study. He looks at them for HOURS on end. One of his favorites is a brochure for the Red Sightseeing Train in Saint Augustine (which we plan to ride this summer). It lives in the car, so that is where he studies it.

I feel like I'm driving a mini tourist around town. This past weekend, we discovered that there is a mini train at the Macon Mall....and WOW, was someone excited. We were sitting in the food court eating dinner when Jackson screams "I hear a train! Mommy, did you hear that CHOOOOO?!" I'm thinking, 'Ok, this child is so obsessed, he's hearing imaginary trains now.' But then, sure enough, here comes a train down the aisle of the mall. WHAT??? Apparently it comes on the weekend and gives rides around the mall. Man, I wish that had been my idea. These people must make a killing ($3 for adults, $2 for kids).

So Jackson and I rode the train...and I'm sure we will be going back again very soon :)

Snow!

Snow in Macon, GA? I know, hard to believe, but it happened. And the boys loved it. Well, Jackson loved it....Luke, not so much.

Seagulls, seagulls, everywhere...

Brad had a week of vacation to take in February, so we took advantage of his time off and headed down to the beach house with my parents. The weather was not as ideal as it could have been, but really nothing to complain about since it was February. There were 2 days that we were able to go down to the beach and enjoy the sand and sun. It was very windy, but we still had a great time. Jackson, being the beach lover that he is, even got in the ocean. Luke, of course, ate his weight in sand and rubbed his knees raw crawling around after Jackson and the seagulls.

Oh, the seagulls.

Jackson learned that if you feed one seagull, he will immediately notify 1,000 of his closest friends. Jackson LOVED it. And I have to admit, it kept us adults quite entertained as well. I guess Jackson thought seagulls would behave like dogs...that they would sit and wait until he decided to give them the food. They didn't. Jackson would stand there with his handful of Cheetos, and the seagulls would begin to hover over Jackson and squawk. Jackson would start yelling "Not yet! Not yet!" and then would start to run. Well, the seagulls just followed him, hovering and squawking until what we had was a little boy clutching Cheetos for dear life, running around in a circle screaming "Not yet! Not yet!" as a swarm of seagulls chased him...and the adults falling over in our chairs laughing at the scene. I wish we could have captured it on camera but none of us could stop laughing long enough to get one out of the bag :)

We also took Jackson and Luke into Saint Augustine one day to play on this incredible playground in the middle of town. It was so much fun and we can't wait to go back this summer with all the cousins. Brad and I also had the chance to take Jackson to his first IMAX experience at The World of Golf just outside of St. Augustine. We saw a short little documentary titled Under the Sea...our boy loves his ocean animals.

Happy Valentine's Day

The boys both got some Valentine's Day goodie bags on Saturday. Jackson gets excited about any holiday, especially ones that involve presents. And lucky for him, I love any excuse to give presents. He is so appreciative and excited about any gift he gets. He opened his bag and with each item he pulled out said "A (fill in the blank)! Just what I needed!" He is so funny. Luke, on the other hand, was not interested in any of his gifts and just wanted to take everything that Jackson got...very typical in our house.

I was gone most of the day to Atlanta to take care of some things I had to do for a consignment sale....so Brad was home with the boys. I didn't get home until about 8 on Saturday night, and was pleasantly surprised to come home to this lovely sight in my bathroom...

What a wonderful Valentine's gift! Brad had the boys bathed and in bed, and had this luxurious bath set up for me to enjoy. There were rose petals, candles, cookies, chocolate, wine...it was heaven. And he even had his i phone set up with a relaxing selection of music for me to enjoy. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who knows just what I need! He put so much thought and time into such a perfect gift. And even more special was the fact that he did it all post call (after having not slept the night before), and while taking care of 2 boys all alone (did I mention that he packed them both up for the trip to the store to get all the supplies?) Brad, you are such a wonderful husband and father and I love you so much!
Also, notice how he laid out my towel, slippers, and bathrobe...such a sweetheart :)
